Tyrone Area FFA Minutes

September 16, 2026

The Tyrone Area FFA September business meeting was called to order by Cassidy Fleck, president, at 7:51 AM in the Ag Room 131. The officer team completed the Opening Ceremony.

Attendance: Diego Montiel, Angel Bertram, Meghan Betram, Torin Riley, Ryder Nowlin, Jeremy Miller, Mason Biter, Tristan Waite, Josie Dicken, John Eaken, Molly Leader, Aubrey Biter, Cassidy Fleck, Alex Sklener, Wyatt Nevel, Gabby Weaver, Kaitlyn Fisher, Jack Carper, Jayden Savino, Levi Latchford, Aleigha Gummo, Camden Beher, Riley Harpster, Ty Kelly, Grace Zimerman, Makaylinn Ferris, Wyatt Walls, Taylor Wrye, Kaitlyn Rockwell (7:57), and Tiffany Hoy. Members Excused: Leanne Clark - SAE activity, Gabby Dean - College visit, and Eli Hunter - CTC

Secretary Reports: Jack Carper moved the May business and summer executive minutes to be accepted as printed. The motion was seconded and approved. 

Treasurer Report:

• Pending Report from District Office

• Riley Harpster moved the chapter to pay all fundraiser bills for the 2026-2027 year. The motion was seconded and approved.  

• Wyatt Walls moved the chapter to pay for the national FFA apparel bill for the member who is ordering a new jacket and reimbursing the chapter.  The motion was seconded and approved.  

• The 2026-2027 Tyrone Area FFA Chapter Proposed Budget was presented.  This will be voted on at the October meeting.  Members were to take note that the chapter is planning a chapter team building day at a high ropes course.  It will cost about $3000 for the bus and to take all the in-school FFA members.  The more FFA members raise through the Clay Shoot and Mum sales, the less we will need to do in a spring fundraiser.  Meat Stick forms will be going out in October.

Committee Reports: 

• Clayshoot Committee: Aubrey Biter reported the sponsorships are due September 25 by 3 PM to make the shirts; FFA members will need to help the day of the event: Sunday, October 11, 2026. If transportation is needed, indicate on the sign-up sheet posted next week. 10 members are needed per shift (or can work on all shifts) - 8:30 AM- 12:30 PM, 11:30 AM- 3:30 PM, and/or 1:30– 5:30 PM. 

• Fundraising: 

  • Leidig Mum Sales - $5 profit per mum sold - Order forms available in the classroom.  Need to sell 100 Mum coupons by October 1.  Coupons can be used until mid-October at Leidig’s Farm on Ridge Road. 

• Large Fair Display - Ag Technology - Vertical Gardening - Placed 3rd overall. Pieces of the display are now in the hallway showcase.

Old Business:

• State FFA Agriscience Contest results: Leanne Clark 2nd Animal Systems Division 4, Frances Weaver 1st- Social Systems Division 5, Paige Hoy 1st - Plant Systems  Division 5, Abby Lucas  2nd- Plant Systems Division 5, Ryleigh Holmes 1st- Power, Structural and Technical Systems Division 3, Aubrey Biter 2nd- Animal Systems Division 5, Cassidy Fleck 1st - Environmental and Natural Resources Systems Division 5. 

• FFA Activities Week in June: Floriculture (Paige Hoy, Carlie Nowlin, Abby Lucas and Madisen Jones) - 5th Overall and Meat Evaluation (Bailey Woomer, Josie Dicken, John Eaken, Cassidy Fleck and Wyatt Walls).  Dairy Cattle Showman/Handler - Leanne Clark (selected for top 25 to participate). Aubrey Biter will serve as the chapter delegate.  Mr. Richard Biter will serve as our male chaperone. 

• Alumni and Supporters’ Chapter Formed - waiting for final approval from the National FFA Alumni Organization. 

• Summer SAE credits: all livestock students and those with summer SAE credits must have record books updated by October 1, as Mrs. Hoy will need to evaluate them. 

• Dairy Leaders of Tomorrow pre-apprenticeship program- The following students are working on the program: Aubrey Biter, John Eaken, Diego Montiel Bonilla, Josie Dicken, and Abby Lucas. 

• National FFA Convention Fundraisers: Unlimited Hoagies order forms and money are due September 21, 2026, by 2:00 PM; Sponsor a Day calendars are due October 8, 2026, by 2 PM. 

New Business: 

• Officer Elections - Abby Lucas sent a not of resignation as the 2026-2027 Tyrone Area FFA Chapter Reporter to Mrs. Hoy on September 14, 2026.  Wyatt Walls moved to accept Abby’s resignation.  The motion was seconded and approved. 

  • Josie Dicken moved to open the nominations; it was seconded and approved. Nominations were made from the floor: Kendall Stathes, Wyatt Walls, and Kaitlyn Rockwell.  Nominations were closed.  Head count was taken (9, 12, 3).  John Eaken moved to accept Wyatt Walls as the 2026-2027 Tyrone Area FFA Chapter Reporter.  The motion was seconded and approved. 

• Blair County-wide Chapter Officer Training - September 24 - 6:30 - 9:00 PM - Transportation provided.

• State FFA Degrees - Due in AET by October 1, 2026 - See Mrs. Hoy for review packet to ensure you have completed the information correctly.  $500 scholarship for each person who receives the degree and applies in February for the scholarship via the CPCF program.

• Keystone International Livestock  Exposition (KILE) - October 2  - Skillathon team competing - Cassidy Fleck, Wyatt Walls, Josie Dicken, and Bailey Woomer.  John Eaken will be helping the livestock company.

• Farm City Day - October 3 - Between OIP and Police Station - members needed to help set up (7-9 AM), Work FFA interactive tent (9-Noon & Noon-4); Cleanup (4-5).  Sign-up will be posted this week

• Homecoming: October 2 - Cassidy Fleck is the Agricultural Education/FFA representative. Congratulations to all members who were nominated for the court.

• Blair County 7th Grade Career Day - October 7 & 8 - Morrison Cove - Tyrone Area FFA will be taking 9 members to work each day - depart school at 7:45 AM and Return by 3:30 PM - transportation and meal provided.  Sign-up will be posted next week.

• National FFA Convention - October 18 - 24, 2026 - Indianapolis, IN

• Growing Greatness: Member Spotlight - nominations are due Friday of each week

• FFA Jacket Program - The application link will be sent to all eligible members and is due October 16 by 2:55 PM.  Letters for sponsors are due to the State FFA Alumni by November 1. 

Other Business:

• AET has a calendar icon in the upper right corner- check out all the FFA activities and stay up to date with information. 

• Tyrone Area FFA business meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month- 7:50 - 8:14 AM in the Ag Room. 

Angel Bertram moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 AM. The motion was seconded and approved

Next Meeting: October 14, 2026 in the Ag Room 7:50 - 8:14 AM with doors opening at 7:30 AM.
